Job Description

PURPOSE

The position works closely with the Director, FR&C and the VP, GFC (as well as the wider FR&C team and other departments, including the Shared Service Centre (SSC)) in external and internal financial reporting.

The position is responsible for the monthly, quarterly and year-end close for all the Group entities (non-OpCo's), including completion of and adherence to certain SOX controls, and is responsible for taking ownership of the annual financial statements and audits of these entities.

The role requires the candidate to independently manage themselves in their day-to-day workload and individual responsibilities but to also be a significant contributor to the wider FR&C team reporting responsibilities.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the review and approval of internal month end and quarter end deliverables for Group entities including, but not limited to, accrual schedules, intercompany recharges, exceptional costs, cashflow reports, month end packs and additional disclosure packs
  • Ownership of the LTIP process, accounting, documentation etc and liaison with external advisors on the valuation reports
  • Ownership of the Shareholder loans process and accounting across the Group, including the preparation of monthly loan schedules and journals to be provided to the SSC and all markets within the Group
  • Accountable for obtaining and assessing quarterly inflationary rates from FP&A/Commercial teams and providing the necessary information to all the markets to assist them with their quarterly decommissioning provisions
  • Accountable for ensuring that various SOX controls pertaining to Group entities are performed and adhered to on a monthly and quarterly basis, including providing suggestions for improvements where necessary
  • Leading the preparation of key external reporting documentation (e.g. MD&A) for quarterly and year-end reporting as part of the 6-K and 20-F filings, including taking ownership for addressing internal queries from senior management as well as liaison with various departments for required information
  • Supporting PwC on audit requests as part of their quarterly reviews and full year audit. Ensuring audit support is delivered as requested by the audit team and queries/follow ups are addressed
  • Leading reviews of annual financial statements (both audited and non-audited) for Group entities and accountable for ensuring timely completion and filing in accordance with applicable deadlines, including being a key contact for external auditors and third party accounting service providers
  • Ownership of the review and timely submission of quarterly Group VAT returns, including consultation with external tax advisors
  • Lead contact/Group market representative for the Egypt market, accountable for the review and submission of the monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting in line with Group deadlines, including ownership of the annual financial statements and timely completion of the external audit and statutory filings
  • Key Group contact for SSC team liaison and responsible for preparing clear workings and analysis on various ad hoc reporting matters for Group entities to assist SSC team, as needed, as well as providing coaching/training/guidance on a regular basis
  • Responsible for coaching and training junior team members in the Group FR&C team, where required
  • Ownership in accounting for ad hoc transactions/projects pertaining to Group entities
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with Group financial reporting policies, IFRS, UK GAAP and local statutory requirements across all Group entities
  • Accountable for reviewing and approving staff expense claims on D365 pertaining to smaller Group entities
  • Accountable for reviewing the weekly Group payment run and submitting to Group CFO for final approval

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with other Senior Managers, Director, FR&C and the VP, GFC in the wider FR&C team on any ad hoc projects/transactions
  • Co-management of one qualified report
  • Responsible for reaching out independently and working with key people from various Group departments on a wide range of transactions and matters, such as Legal (e.g. capital contributions, acquisitions, restructurings etc), Treasury (e.g. Shareholder loans and external debt movements, ad hoc cash reconciliation queries etc), Tax (e.g. quarterly computations, annual CIT and VAT filings etc), HR (e.g. LTIP information and reports, other staff costs etc)

Qualifications

Education:

  • University Graduate
  • Chartered Accountant from a recognized body (ACA and ACCA preferred)

Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will be 'Big 4' trained
  • Minimum 7 years PQE with relevant reporting experience
  • Listed company experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in using and obtaining reporting from global ERPs with D365 an advantage.
  • Experience in using OneStream or other consolidation and reporting tool (e.g. HFM) an advantage.
  • Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong technical skills - a good understanding of a range of reporting standards under IFRS, with emphasis on lease accounting for lessors, revenue recognition, impairment review, share based payments and deferred tax an advantage.
  • Practical experience of international consolidations and reporting with multiple foreign currencies.
  • High levels of analytical skills; likes problem solving.
  • High attention to detail, but where necessary can apply a pragmatic solution.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including being able to use "plain English' when explaining verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to create productive relationships across the Group and to influence other senior professionals.
  • A willingness to work as part of a close team and as a self-directed, proactive individual within that team working to high standards without close supervision but ensuring progress is reported.
  • High degree of personal integrity; takes pride in their work.
  • Positive attitude when dealing with challenges and obstacles; stamina in completing tasks and keeping to deadlines.
  • Confidence and maturity to work and communicate openly with the Group CFO, Deputy Group CFO and GFC.
  • Hands-on "can do" personal style.
  • Sensitivity to differences in language and culture - experience of African and/or emerging markets an advantage.
  • Confidence and willingness to travel if needed.
