Job Description

Checkout is rapidly maturing its financial reporting processes and capabilities, for the benefit of our external auditors, our Finance function, the Company, and our halo of interested partners. By its nature, our financial statement audits are backward looking, and are thus predicated on legacy processes, which are enhanced and supplemented by manual and forensic accounting processes.

We're looking for an experienced and versatile accounting professional to join our Finance function at Checkout.com. Your work will be instrumental in interfacing with our external auditors to manage the annual financial statement audit process. This includes liaising with and syndicating audit input responsibilities across relevant internal groups, which includes a large, strong team of accounting contractors. Additionally, your role will primarily be a key individual contributor - in that certain legacy accounting processes are supplemented by forensic-style accounting processes and schedules, which require a competent, creative, problem-solving accountant to prepare and maintain.

This role will also be pivotal to shaping the future of our processes - utilising the experience of being immersed in legacy processes to provide on-going input to the teams that are tasked with building our future-state financial reporting and internal control infrastructure. Your role utilises (and benefits from!) future state capabilities, as they come online.

This role presents a truly unique opportunity to take on interesting (but eminently solvable) accounting and audit challenges, and make a meaningful, long-lasting impact to an exciting, growth-oriented company.

How you'll make an impact

  • Be the operational owner for preparing the financial records, and supporting audit evidence, for our core product (payment processing) offering.
  • Synthesise learnings and identify improvement opportunities and educate Transformation peers, possibly including the testing of related solutions prior to adoption.
  • Syndicate work across the BAU and contractor accounting function to deliver the full range of audit deliverables to a well-managed timeline.
  • Liaise with external audit, including educating them on the processes and controls that support our financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with peers that bear the corresponding responsibility for the audit deliverables not related to our core product offering (SGA/OpEx etc.)
  • Prepare and present communications to management regarding audit progress, challenges, innovations etc.

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, CA) with 5+ years post-qualification experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, internal control - or a related professional area
  • You'll find motivation in tackling fascinating, forensic-like accounting problems. You'll have a track record and a proficiency in devising and implementing solutions for such challenges.
  • Extremely strong Excel skills; Access/Database competencies a strong plus
  • You'll have experience working within FinTech or Financial Services; and it's an advantage if you have specific experience with Payments and/or Financial Instruments
  • Strong teammate player with a proven ability to work constructively with direct reports, as well as peers, and external audit partners

Additional Information

Hybrid Working Model:

All of our offices globally are onsite 3 times per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). We've worked towards enabling teams to work collaboratively in the same space, while also being able to partner with colleagues globally. During your days at the office, we offer amazing snacks, breakfast, and lunch options in all of our locations.

Apply without meeting all requirements statement

If you don't meet all the requirements but think you might still be right for the role, please apply anyway. We're always keen to speak to people who connect with our mission and values.
