As the Senior Logistics Manager you will be responsible for leading the Phase One logistics team that assure the project logistics requirements and environmental legislation are being met by the project's Integrated Project Teams and Contractors across Systems Delivery, Main Works Civils, Enabling Works, Utilities and Stations both individually and when considered collectively.
About the role:
- Lead the strategy and policy for efficient use of logistics material and resources for Phase 1 construction and provide advice and oversight for Phase 2.
- Lead the team to assure that Contractors' Construction Logistics Strategies, Construction Logistics Plans and Excavated Material Plans comply with the relevant on-site requirements, environmental legislation and policies both individually and when considered collectively.
- Lead on ensuring that contractors have satisfactory processes and procedures in place for ensuring that the project Environmental Minimum Requirements (EMRs) are being complied with for on-site environmental effects including liaison with environment team as necessary on data capture.
- Ensure that contract requirements and logistics advice notes are kept up to date and implemented, through providing a quality management role.
- Ensure that appropriate on-site assurance is undertaken including establishing and implementing appropriate strategies, policies, governance, processes, systems and standards in discharging CDM and other contract responsibilities.
- Ensure that processes are in place for reporting on and providing guidance to Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) and Contractors where requirements, U&As or EMRs could be breached by individual or collective contractor works.
- Act as the point of escalation for logistics related assurance risks and issues.
- Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About You:
Skills:
- Complex problem solving - identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. This includes the management and planning of multiple workstreams and the competing demands of stakeholders.
- Clear Direction - Defining and prioritising objectives, analysing inputs, assessing and assessing data, defining strategies and supporting rationales.
- Decision Quality - Gathering and synthesising information, identifying options and applying judgement based on logic and reason, making use of a variety of analytical approaches to provide relevant information to suppliers, stakeholders and decision makers using key facts and data.
- Influencing & Negotiating Skills - including internal functions and external supply chain partners.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of site environmental impact assessments, relevant to large construction projects.
- Understanding of construction and design principles and logistics requirements.
- Knowledge of supply chain sectors across various geographies and industries (incl. civil, construction, logistics, and rail)
Type of experience:
- Experience of leading on development and implementation of construction and/or logistics policies and processes for a large, multi-site, major infrastructure project.
- Membership of an appropriate Professional Institution such as Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and/or equivalent professional experience
- Degree level qualification in relevant transport, logistic or traffic studies or equivalent experience.
