Knowledge, Skills & Performance

Essential criteria

  • Holds acceptable primary medical qualification
  • Demonstrable postgraduate training
  • Competence in managing medical emergencies
  • Evidence of clinical competencies in their medical specialty
  • An appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • A commitment to personal CPD

Desirable criteria

  • Awards/Distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
  • Logbook
  • Valid Life Support Courses (ACLS, ALS, ATLS, APLS or similar)
  • Involvement in Research and Publication

Safety & Quality

Essential criteria

  • Understanding of the basic principles of evidence-based practice, patient safety, audit, clinical risk management and clinical quality improvement initiatives
  • Ability to prioritise clinical need
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
  • Time management skills

Desirable criteria

  • Completed an audit/quality improvement project
