Person specification

Knowledge, Skills & Performance

Essential criteria

• MRCPCH or equivalent
• Minimum of 24 months experience in General Paediatrics
• Competence in managing medical emergencies.
• An appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
• A commitment to personal CPD

Desirable criteria

• Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
• Previous experience in Paediatric Cardiology
• Valid Life Support Course (APLS, ATLS, ALS or similar)
• Involvement in Research & Publication

Safety & Quality

Essential criteria

• Understanding of the basic principles of evidence-based practice, patient safety, audit, clinical risk management, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
• Ability to prioritise clinical need
• Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
• Time management skills.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of audit/ Quality improvement project

• Honesty, integrity, awareness of ethical dilemmas, respect for confidentiality

Communication, partnership & Teamwork

Essential criteria

• Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, professional colleagues and other people within a team
• Self-awareness, with knowledge of personal strengths and weaknesses, impact and areas for development
• Interest in and knowledge of the importance of leadership and management for clinicians
• English Language Skills: IELTS Overall 7.5, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7 Writing 7 , OET minimum grade B

• Evidence of effective team working and leadership, supported by multi-source feedback or workplace-based assessments
