Person specification

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria

• MBChB or equivalent
• Postgraduate qualification: FRCS or equivalent
• CCT/CESR in paediatric surgery (or to be within 6 months at time of interview) or equivalent

Desirable criteria

• Evidence of commitment to subspecialist practice
• MD, PhD or other higher degree

Teaching and Audit

Essential criteria

• Teaching medical students
• Teaching junior medical staff
• Experience of Audit

Academic Achievements and Research

Essential criteria

• Publication in peer reviewed journals or demonstrate commitment to developing research in paediatric surgery

Interpersonal skills

Essential criteria

• Organisation skills
• Communication skills
• Leadership skills
• Ability to work harmoniously in multi-disciplinary team

Other Requirements

Essential criteria

• Full registration with the GMC and licenced to practice
• Registered on the GMC Specialist Register (or be within 6 months of CCT date from the date of interview)
