Person specification
Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Medical Degree (Mb ChB or equivalent)
- Significant experience in Ophthalmology
- Completion of basic surgical training
- FRCOphth (or equivalent postgraduate qualification)
- Ability to manage a range of emergency and elective conditions within the scope of ophthalmology
- Ability to perform routine cataract surgery unsupervised
- Proven experience in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma
Desirable criteria
- Completion of Higher Specialist Training or within 3 months of CCT
- Postgraduate Degree (e.g. MD, PhD)
Other Requirements
Essential criteria
- Full registration and a licence to practice with the General Medical Council
Audit and Teaching
Essential criteria
- Evidence of Clinical Audit in Ophthalmology
- Commitment to continuing medical education and the requirements of clinical governance and audit
- Evidence of teaching and training junior medical staff
- Evidence of teaching Undergraduate Students
- Evidence of teaching or training allied health professionals
Academic Achievements
Essential criteria
- Publications in recognised ophthalmic or related journals
- Evidence of Research projects relating to glaucoma
- Willingness to undertake glaucoma related research during fellowship post
Desirable criteria
- Distinctions or Prizes during undergraduate training
