Job Description

The role

Checkout.com is looking for an experienced global employment lawyer, with expertise in French employment law. This role will be based in London adding to a strong employment law team, with one lead and two experienced employment attorneys on the team.

This role will provide you with a great opportunity to grow your skills as a global employment attorney, supporting a successful company with employees in 20+ countries as we grow and mature.You'll be responsible for leading employment law advice in France, as well as in other countries.

How you'll make an impact

  • You'll advise the company on a full range of employment-related issues, including recruiting, hiring, compensation and benefits, leaves, performance management, misconduct investigations, employee relations and separations.
  • You'll develop processes, practices and templates which will help the company address employment issues in a practical and efficient way.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • Eight or more years of experience as a practicing lawyer, excluding any traineeships or time spent outside the practice of law.
  • At least five years' experience as an employment lawyer.
  • At least three years' experience providing French employment law advice and the ability to comfortably provide this advice without a lot of outside counsel support.
  • Experience working on matters across multiple countries.
  • Living within a commutable distance from our London or Paris offices.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to accommodate international time zones where needed and occasional travel

You'll need

  • A license to practice law in the U.K. and/or France.
  • To be a self-starter who can work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a business-centric focus on risk.
  • Excellent time management skills and comfort managing a diverse and heavy workload and competing stakeholder demands.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
  • Enthusiasm for new challenges and working with a range of different stakeholders.
  • Excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven abilities for process improvement and simplification.
  • Ability to speak French and/or read or write in French.
