Job Description

Purpose of Role

Games content represents a key area for the Commercial Legal team requiring our in-house lawyers to identify, assess and balance legal, regulatory and commercial risks, design and implement new and creative solutions for large scale contractual arrangements, negotiate supplier agreements and manage stakeholders. This particular area has seen significant and rapid growth and as a result, we are looking to onboard an additional talented and highly motivated mid-level lawyer to increase our capacity.

This position will suit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is keen to continue their legal career in-house in a supportive and vibrant environment with an interest in sport and, in particular, online gaming.

Principal duties include overseeing contractual matters with existing and future games suppliers, participating in RFP and due diligence reviews of suppliers, providing commercial and regulatory counsel on key strategic initiatives, providing day-to-day advice, resolving issues that arise in existing and new games commercial relationships, assisting on licensing matters and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. The successful candidate will have a strong regulatory and transactional background and be able to apply sound, pragmatic judgement in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structuring, negotiating and drafting simple and complex commercial agreements for the licensing of online casino software, games and other products (including bespoke development and brand licensing agreements).
  • Serving as lead counsel and directly advising business clients on strategic deals.
  • Advising senior stakeholders on the launch of new products and managing all legal aspects (including identifying and mitigating potential risks).
  • Advising on the commercial implications of existing contractual obligations.
  • Resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
  • Serving as a key subject matter expert and strategic advisor to the businesses in relation to legal obligations.
  • Assisting in the development and management of risk protection programmes across the company.
  • Proactively monitoring and reviewing legislation in order to help ensure accurate and up-to-date inventories of all legal obligations.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and becoming immersed in all aspects of the group's gaming offering.

Qualifications

  • England & Wales or Gibraltar-qualified lawyer with 4-7 years PQE.
  • Strong free drafting and negotiating ability.
  • Strong interest in, gambling regulations and the gambling industry, however, previous industry experience not essential.
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
  • Enthusiastic about taking ownership of projects and become involved proactively in all legal aspects from start to finish.
  • Keen to make a positive impact on the business and continuously looking for ways to improve existing processes and suggest/implement new processes where they will lead to greater efficiencies and productivity.
  • Thrives working in a large team but is also comfortable working alone on smaller projects.
  • Pro-active and driven attitude and comfortable liaising with and advising senior management.
  • Able to problem solve quickly by making reasoned judgements balancing risks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a face paced and highly regulated environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills.
