Person specification
Essential
Essential criteria
- Mb ChB, or equivalent
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- 3 years experience in General Cardiology at Middle Grade level with experience in out of hours cardiology on calls
- Competent in inserting temporary pacing wires
- Competent in periocardiocentesis
- Cath lab experience as second operator during out of hours emergency work (primary PCI)
- Sufficient leadership skills to supervise more junior members of medical staff
- Ability to co-ordinate patient care and follow-up in a multidisciplinary environment
- Good personal and interpersonal skills
- Excellent spoken and written English. Communication skills should be well developed
- Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees
- Ability to routinely enter data into clinical audit databases requiring basic computing skills
- Experience of research
Desirable criteria
- Competent in coronary angiography
- Competent in femoral and arterial access
- Competent in right heart catheterisation
- Evidence of participation in routine clinical audit
- Track record of successful research. Higher research degree (MD or PhD)
