Senior Lecturer - PA Programme

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

By joining the University of Central Lancashire, you'll become part of a thriving community of talent that's united by a shared vision - to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.

About the role:

Physician Associates (PA) are playing an increasing role in the expanding NHS work force. To facilitate this training need the School of Medicine and Dentistry has developed a series of PA programmes. With increasing demand, there is a need for staff to assist in the delivery and development of these courses at our two campus sites: Westlakes Campus in West Cumbria and the main campus at Preston.

The School of Medicine is excited to be able to appoint a Senior Lecturer to support the Academic Director in this development and delivery of the Master's undergraduate and MSc postgraduate programmes in PA studies (direct entry and Apprenticeship route). The post holder will take a lead in the delivery and evaluation of module(s)/course, ensuring a blended-learning approach to meet the requirements of PAs working in the NHS.

About you:

You will have an Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and be registered with a professional regulatory body (GMC (PAMVR) / NMC / GPhC / HCPC). Experience with teaching Medical undergraduates and/or Physician Associates is essential. You will also need to be familiar with the organisation, planning and delivery of medical educational programmes in a clinical educational environment, up to master's level. You must possess excellent communication and presentation skills and have strong planning and team management abilities.

Should you wish to undertake clinical work in addition to this role, then the University can assist in connecting with NHS employers locally.

Informal enquiries are welcomed - please contact Jane Rutt-Howard , Academic Director of the PA Programmes, via email in the first instance.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based at our Westlakes and Preston Campus sites (travel to each campus site is essential).

What we can offer you:

Our people are our most important asset. We'll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you'll be making a positive difference to other people's lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits - from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.

We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.

The University is committed to providing a safe environment to study, work and visit, protecting children, young people and adults at risk from harm and abuse. Our safeguarding policy and safer recruitment procedure outlines our approach, alongside other internal policies, procedures and guidance which can be found on our Safeguarding page.
