Senior Lecturer in Computer Science
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science with expertise in Software Engineering to join our dynamic academic community and help shape the future of our computing programmes. We are particularly interested in candidates with strengths in software design and architecture, modern software development practices, requirements engineering, software testing and quality assurance, DevOps, cloud-based software systems, secure software engineering, or large-scale software development in industrial contexts.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will bring your enthusiasm and experience to deliver high-quality teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will play an important role in ensuring that our Software Engineering curriculum remains current, relevant, and aligned with the needs of employers and the wider digital economy. You will also contribute to the broader academic life of the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences through curriculum development, research, enterprise, and knowledge exchange activities.
We would particularly welcome applicants who can demonstrate experience in applying Software Engineering in practice, engaging with industry, or contributing to real-world software projects. There will be exciting opportunities to support interdisciplinary initiatives, external partnerships, student projects, and outreach activities.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline, and will have experience of teaching and supporting student learning in higher education or equivalent settings. You should be able to develop engaging and innovative learning experiences that prepare students for contemporary software engineering roles. If you do not already hold one, we will support you in working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education or Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA).
We are looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking colleague who is passionate about student success and confident in using modern teaching approaches, including blended and online delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an innovative, growing team at the University of Chester and help prepare the next generation of software professionals.
We strongly encourage applications from women and individuals from diverse backgrounds as we strive to promote inclusivity in our department. All appointments will be based on merit.
