As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you will be leading change as part of an agile team in Corporate Technology Engineering and Architecture that works to enhance, build, deliver and operate solutions whilst mentoring junior members of the team. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to break down complex and ambiguous problems into technical specifications that an engineering team can implement under your guidance.
  • Lead and participate in regular technical meetings, ensuring that architectural decisions align with the broader organizational goals and strategy
  • Own and deliver end-to-end cutting-edge solutions leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices
  • Develops secure, high quality, full-stack production code; reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Support the products you've built through their entire life cycle, including production and incident management
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to understand their domain and data requirements, to help shape the development of products.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience. In addition, proven experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert knowledge in developing, debugging, and maintaining code with modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Expert knowledge with front-end languages and frameworks (e.g. typescript/react)
  • Expert knowledge with UX design concepts (e.g. responsive web design)
  • Experience building solutions on at least one Cloud platform (e.g. AWS)
  • Experience of integration technologies (e.g. GraphQL, REST etc..)
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Practical experience of designing and deploying applications on AWS
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Knowledge with server-side languages and frameworks (e.g. Java/SpringBoot)
