The role
We are excited to recruit a skilled senior technician to support our dedicated 200-student capacity undergraduate teaching laboratory in the school of Biosciences. As the senior technician in charge of planning, organising, and delivering our many microbiology and molecular biology practical classes, you will be vital to ensuring our students receive the best possible experience during their time in our laboratory. Due to the wide variety of modules the students are offered throughout their three-to-four-year courses, you will gain many new and interesting skills, not just within microbiology and molecular biology, but also biochemistry, food science, physiology and more!

You will be overseeing a small team of technicians and will be interacting with students, academic staff and other members of the technical team on a daily basis.

About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a background in microbiology and a broad range of technical skills and experience supervising and working as part of a large team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience working within a microbiology laboratory, have good communication skills, a strong understanding of laboratory Health and Safety and a willingness to learn and develop themselves, as well as teach others.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on customer service, ensuring everything is provided to the highest possible standard.
