- Promote and maintain safe working practices, including PPE use, chemical handling, and adherence to laboratory safety standards
- Act as a first point of contact for researchers and facility users, responding to routine queries and escalating complex issues
- Assist with hazardous waste and gas cylinder management, including storage, labelling, and arranging collection or replacement
- Deliver local inductions using approved materials and maintain accurate training and access records
- Maintain and update documentation, including SOPs, risk assessments, and local rules, ensuring review dates are tracked
- Manage stock control by ordering and replenishing consumables, PPE, and laboratory supplies
- Coordinate with facilities teams, contractors, and service engineers for maintenance and servicing activities
- Carry out basic equipment checks and routine maintenance tasks where trained and authorised
- Maintain accurate records, including equipment logs, maintenance schedules, and user documentation
About You
You will be a detail-oriented and reliable individual with a strong understanding of laboratory environments and safety practices. You'll be comfortable working within defined procedures, managing multiple tasks, and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Essential Criteria:
- A BSc (or equivalent experience) in materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven experience working in a laboratory, cleanroom, or technical/research facility
- Good understanding of laboratory safety principles and procedures
