Senior Kotlin Engineer (Risk Platform)

Are you an experienced Kotlin engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges at scale? Join a strategic risk replatforming initiative within a leading global investment bank, working on a high-performance system responsible for storing and distributing large-scale risk results across the organisation.

Note: Candidates must be based in the UK and able to attend the Central London office in person once per week.

Essential functions

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend systems using Kotlin
• Build resilient, fault-tolerant components capable of handling very large data volumes
• Contribute to architectural decisions as part of a strategic replatforming effort
• Write clean, testable code following TDD principles
• Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and technical leadership
• Support continuous improvement of system scalability, reliability, and maintainability

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience with Kotlin
• Proven experience working in high-pressure production environments handling large datasets
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and performance optimisation
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ownership mindset

Would be a plus

• Experience with Flink, Trino or Kafka
• Background in financial services or risk systems
