Senior Keyworker

The Greater Manchester Keyworker Service is seeking to recruit permanent, full-time, Senior Keyworkers to join our growing team. We support children and young people who have a diagnosis of Learning Disability and/or Autism and who are at risk of, are in, or at the point of discharge from a Tier 4 setting (mental health ward). The service covers all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. We have 5 teams and are seeking senior keyworkers for our Bolton & Wigan, Manchester and Tameside & Trafford Teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity to ensure children and young people have the right support, at the right time, in the right way, supporting them to move from crisis, to coping and on to thriving. We are looking for individuals who are passionate, person-centred, empowering and hold children and young people at the centre of their practice. A s a Keyworker, you will deliver high quality support within the family home, residential placement, or inpatient setting. You will work as part of a team to prevent where possible children and young people from requiring an inpatient admission or placement through community based support.

You will be a connector and therefore need excellent communication and people skills, to build relationships with children, families and professionals involved in their lives, and to respectfully challenge as needed. In return you will be well supported and have access to learning and development opportunities. This service is dynamic, no two days are the same, however you will have children and young people who you will build positive and meaningful relationships with. You will manage your own diary with families, providing support at a time that suits their needs. This means you will be working some evenings and weekends. In return you will manage your hours so may benefit from later starts or earlier finishes. As a Senior Keyworker you will provide support to the children and young people with the more complex support needs or provide guidance to colleagues.

To be a successful Keyworker, you will need to have the following and demonstrate both in your application and at interview:

  • Experience in supporting children with Learning Disabilities or Autism and ideally mental health.
  • The ability to ensure the 'voice' of the child and family is central, enabling lived experience to create change.
  • Excellent team working skills. You will work as part of a service that covers the whole of Greater Manchester. However, there are 5 teams providing the opportunity to offer support and create strong relationships and partnerships in a local area and with colleagues.
  • Safeguarding knowledge and experience.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Good recording skills.
  • Multi-disciplinary team working experience and skill.
  • A good level of IT and the ability to use differing systems and software.
  • A car available for work with business class insurance, mileage is paid for business travel.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band - this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.
