About the role
This role provides the 'glue' between Achieving for Children services and administrative support. We are currently looking for someone with energy and enthusiasm to work as Business Support Team Manager to join our team at our Guildhall Offices in Kingston.
This is a dynamic role managing a Business Support Team, which provides support to operational services to enable streamlined service and performance efficiencies.
Duties will include:
- Work closely with the relevant Directorate supporting business process and change
- Communicate with key stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of Business Support administrative tasks, ensuring that the service area needs are met on time to agreed standards and ensure regular engagement is maintained with the relevant service areas
- Lead and manage a team of officers and be responsible for providing an efficient, effective and flexible business support service, the team will be required to deliver a full administrative service including servicing high-level complex meetings, diary management, excellent customer service, upkeep of records both manually and on relevant IT systems, deal with enquiries, invoices and all the other day-to-day administration and support tasks.

Working with as part of our team and supporting AfC services is rewarding and exciting. You will be a strong leader, with excellent management skills and organisational abilities.
You will need to promote positive communication across different models, have excellent attention to detail and support Senior Officers to negotiate workloads and ensure that business staff perform to agreed standards whilst embracing a digital way of working.
To be a Business Support Team Manager for AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points:
- Management and leadership experience of working in a business support capacity managing a multi-discipline team of support staff
- Fantastic customer service and stakeholder relationship management experience - interacting with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- An articulate communicator who is able to negotiate win-wins under pressure
- Wide ranging project management experience of improving service delivery through the development and implementation of systems or new processes
- Strong experience of managing or supervising staff, including experience of meeting personal and team objectives through effective HR driven performance management techniques and continuous development of staff.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to present management information in a methodical and understandable manner.
