About the roleAs a Senior Investigations Paralegal you'll play an important role in ensuring we investigate cases in a proportionate and timely way that best protects the public in accordance with the NMC's statutory obligations.

The role will involve providing independent legal advice to investigators focusing on investigation steps at the case planning stage and sufficiency of evidence when cases are being considered as being ready for a Case Examiner decision.

You'll have the opportunity to learn from and get direct supervision from an experienced lawyer on more complex cases, interim order risk assessments and procedural issues around linked cases.

You'll also conduct case progression tasks including interviewing witnesses and drafting statements as well as drafting instructions to expert witnesses.

About You

We'll looking for people who:
• Are aspiring lawyers pursuing legal qualifications.
• Are able to work collaboratively with investigators and lawyers to progress cases.
• Are keen to expand their knowledge and skills and deliver training and learning to the wider team
• Are able to work as part of team to provide flexible support to deal with changing workloads and contribute to projects
• Have good IT skills

Our core role is to regulate. First, we promote high education and professional standards for nurses and midwives across the UK, and nursing associates in England. Second, we maintain the register of professionals eligible to practise. Third, we investigate concerns about nurses, midwives and nursing associates - something that affects a tiny minority of professionals each year. Our Pay Policy
It is expected that staff new to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band. However in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a salary above the bottom of the relevant pay band but we may request proof of current earnings. Please note that we offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach. Further details of which are available on request.
