Senior Internal Communications Manager

We're looking for a Senior Internal Communications Manager to join our People team at Connells Group to help shape and drive our college engagement and communications strategy. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on a range of communications channels including digital channels, newsletters, leadership meetings and in-person events, as well as generating engaging and inspiring communications. You'll work closely with the Chief People Officer and Head of Communications, to develop and deliver amazing communications that truly excite and engage our teams, support our culture, and encourage collaboration. You'll also play a key role in supporting our external Employer Brand PR efforts, helping to ensure our messaging is clear and consistent both inside and outside the business.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Internal Communications Manager:
- Lead the development and execution of a highly engaging strategic internal communications plan aligned with business goals and priorities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing counsel and content that enhances leadership visibility and supports organisational change.
- Produce and manage high-quality internal communications across a variety of channels (e.g., email, intranet, videos, events, and townhalls).
- Partner with HR and business functions to support key initiatives such as culture, values, employee engagement, DEI, and transformation programmes.
- Continuously measure the effectiveness of internal communications, using data and insights to inform improvements.
- You will also support the Head of Communications with a variety of external PR activities such as developing media materials, creating press releases, Q&A documents, crisis planning and working on incident responses as required.
Experience required to be successful as a Senior Internal Communications Manager:
- Proven experience in a senior internal communications or corporate communications role, ideally within a large, multi-site or complex organisation.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex topics into clear and compelling messages.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to deliver at pace and influence senior stakeholders.
- A natural storyteller with a creative flair and strong editorial judgment.
- Experience managing internal channels and campaigns, including measurement and analytics.
- Confidence in managing sensitive information and exercising sound judgement in high-pressure situations.
