We are actively seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to be based in any of our UK or EU offices.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Internal Audit function at D&G and play a pivotal role in strengthening governance, customer outcomes, and control effectiveness across our European operations. This is a hands-on role that requires excellent communication written and verbal communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to navigate a complex international environment. You will deliver risk-based audits across D&G's entities and markets. Working closely with teams across regions. You will also evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls, support regulatory compliance (e.g., BaFin, IVASS, DORA, FCA, PRA) and help drive operational resilience across multiple jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver risk-based internal audits across D&G, focusing on risk management and compliance
- Plan, lead and conduct high-quality audit fieldwork, including walkthroughs, control design assessments, testing, and documentation, in line with D&G's Internal Audit methodology.
- Produce clear, evidence-based audit findings and recommendations that enhance customer outcomes, strengthen governance, improve the risk, and control environment.
- Present audit results to senior management, ensuring insights are understood and actions are prioritised in line with business risk and regulatory expectations.
- Monitor and validate the embedding of management actions, confirming sustainability of remediation and improvement in control effectiveness.
- Analyse D&G's operational and customer-facing processes to identify root causes and opportunities for efficiency, accuracy, and improved service delivery.
- Support the development and use of data analytics to improve risk assessment, audit coverage and insights.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across D&G to understand business changes and emerging risks.
- Collaborate with D&G's three lines of defence to ensure consistent understanding of risks, monitoring activity and regulatory expectations.
- Support the Internal Audit team in improving tools, templates and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure all audit work complies with the IIA International Standards, the CIIA Code of Practice, and D&G's Internal Audit policies and procedures.
- Travel to other D&G offices or operational sites when required to complete audit engagements.
Key skills required:
- You should have strong knowledge of EU regulatory environments and be fluent in the German and English language, if based in the EU.
- You should have strong knowledge of the UK regulatory environment (PRA and FA) if based in the UK. EU Regulatory knowledge is an advantage.
- ACCA, CIA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Internal Audit experience in financial services, ideally within the insurance industry with strong regulatory experience (e.g. BaFin, IVASS, DORA, PRA, FCA)
- Strong strategic awareness and the ability to think critically and analytically
- Strong interpersonal, communication and team skills; ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff across the Group, mindful of cultural differences.
- Strong understanding of the audit process, including the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess processes and recommend risk-mitigating improvements.
- Experience using data analytics and advanced excel skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently, escalate issues appropriately, and collaborate across functions.
- Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to display pragmatism whilst communicating persuasively at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally
