We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Insight Executive to join the Insights team.

The Senior Insight Executive will be responsible for the day-to-day research for one of the Network Audience, Content Insight and Platform Insight teams and will rotate around the 3 areas, working in each for a fixed period. They will act as first point of contact for BAU insight requests, and this role will help champion a data-lead approach which is key to ensuring audience insight sits at the heart of all decisions across the business.

Feeding into various areas of UKTV will allow you the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects. The scope of the role means you'll be involved in (but not limited to) finding scheduling/curation solutions, identify the most pertinent target audiences, conducting marketing evaluations, involved in trend research, responding to digital data and product requests, platform and carriage queries, understanding social media behaviour, and work closely with commissioning and acquisitions teams to help identify content that resonates with our audiences.

What we would like you to bring to the role....key experience, knowledge, skills & personal qualities

Experience

  • Quantitative research, from survey design to analysis, gained in either research, advertising or media agency, or within a client company.
  • Knowledge of qualitative research techniques and how it can be utilised alongside other methodologies.
  • Interrogation and analysis of datasets (e.g. BARB/TechEdge, Piano, TGI).
  • Experience working with digital and VoD metrics / digital tools.
  • Analysing data and research findings and producing clear and concise written reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Using Excel and PowerPoint to manipulate and present data to a high standard.
  • Presenting research findings to a non-research audience.
  • Good level of knowledge of social metrics and the interplay of social activity in the brand footprint.
  • Comfortable collaborating with a data team and multi-platform data sets.
  • Ability to drive the implementation of research recommendations.
  • Experienced in presenting findings to non-researchers, telling a clear and compelling story.
  • Adept at combining metrics from various sources.
  • Excellent IT, written and numeracy skills including advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint to manipulate and present data to a high standard.

Knowledge

  • Good understanding of advancements in BARB measurement of non-linear activity.
  • Fully conversant with market/competitor activity.

What you will get to work on....key outputs and responsibilities of the role

  • Rotate around the 3 insight teams; Network Audience Insight, Platform Insight and Content Insight to gain and all-rounded insight experience to deliver actionable insight specific to these areas. You will embrace a data-led and audience-centric approach in reporting to enhance our understanding of cross-platform performance and behaviour.
  • You will be the first point of contact for day-to-day BAU activity and requests associated with the team you are assigned to, with the support of the Insight Managers.

Consumer insight

  • Have a good understanding of UKTV's strategy and how consumer insight shapes it, and in doing so anticipating and meeting the needs of wider business.
  • Acts as a first point of contact for day-to-day data requests arising from issues facing UKTV.
  • Translates issues into research requirements.
  • Provides insight and well-informed recommendations to inform team decisions.
  • Keeps abreast of broad consumer research and tailor insights to UKTV.
  • Ensures wherever possible broader consumer trends are reflected in regular and ad hoc reports.

In House Qualitative Research

  • Project manages the delivery of in-house qualitative research to inform decision making.
  • Creates and manages activity timetable for in house research.
  • Ensures research is conducted with utmost expertise and impartiality and within the MRS guidelines.
  • Provides insightful debrief with clear learnings and recommendations.

Timely and relevant data analysis

  • Produce regular reports updating the business on key performance metrics and market context
  • Produces accurate, timely and insightful evaluations.
  • Uses BARB/Piano and other data to provide ad hoc investigation of issues affecting UKTV performance
  • Evaluation of marketing activity.
  • Analysis of major UKTV/channel/player/web initiatives.
  • Be creative in approaching complex queries and think of different methodologies to find a solution.
  • Be adaptable to changes in priorities and act quickly to last minute data requests.

Management of Commissioned Research

  • Manages relationships with external suppliers to ensure accuracy and efficiencies.
  • Works with Manager to translate research needs into research objectives and brief.
  • Manages the research process from end to end.

Brand Planning

  • Analysis of the performance of UKTV and its services against targets.
  • Identifies issues and opportunities arising out of this analysis.
  • Attends and play an active part in brand away days.
  • Inputs into the brand tracker, and interprets results to help inform brand and network plans.

Online & multiplatform integration

  • Help decision makers fully understand the combined performance across our services.
  • Provide research which helps maximise the digital-first objectives.

Anything else we feel we should tell/know you about the role/team....

  • This role works in to one of three functions at a time and rotates after a fixed period. In all teams, you will work with UKTV's data analyst and science teams.
  • Rotation around the 3 teams is designed to enable knowledge sharing, fresh thinking and career development in busy and varied areas. The 3 teams will collaborate to ensure that the right level of information ladders up to the Heads of the teams to ensure consistency for cross-platform and holistic audience reporting.
  • The Insight Managers will be your first port of call for management of your work, workflow and prioritisation. However, the head of the team will be your direct line manager and responsible for your overall development.
  • Key stakeholders will be Programming, Marketing, Commissioning, Acquisitions, Commercial and Product teams.

Platform Insight

A team delivering all platform and commercial insight initiatives. Developing a unified view of platform performance will influence tactical and strategic decision-making right across the business. Feeding into platform target and KPI setting, and monitoring and communicating performance of UKTV's portfolio of digital and linear platforms.

Content Insight

Content is central to all UKTV activity. This team operates as a key advisor on the drivers, opportunities, and levers available to get the most value out of our content investment. They will use deep knowledge of content trends and competitor activity to inform UKTV's editorial strategy and idea generation, providing a fundamental role in decision-making across the content value chain.

Network Audience Insight

The Network Audience Insight team will be key advisors for the holistic understanding of UKTV's current and potential audiences across all platforms (digital, linear, FAST, social etc). They will champion a data-led approach to identify the most pertinent audience strategies to support our growth.
