About the roleThe Analytics team is a core capability spread right across the John Lewis Partnership, using advanced analytics and data-driven insights to help stakeholders solve complex problems and make better, more informed decisions. We are the driving force behind the data that powers our two well-loved retail brands, John Lewis and Waitrose.
As a Senior Analyst, you will be embedded within a specific part of the business, working closely with your line manager and stakeholders to maximise the impact and value of your analytical projects. This is a hands-on role where you'll apply your technical expertise and clear storytelling to deliver timely recommendations. We're looking for a curious and pragmatic individual who is passionate about using data to tackle real-world business challenges and contribute to our unique purpose of 'Working in Partnership for a happier world'.
Salary : up to £60,000 (depending on experience)
Contract type - Permanent
Flexible working - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business.
Location - This role is based at our London Pimlico Head Office.

Key responsibilities

Manipulate, analyse, and build models from large, complex datasets to directly impact business decision-making and optimise the full marketing funnel.

Partner with key stakeholders in the Marketing Channel teams, including but not limited to Paid Search, Paid Social, Marketing Measurement and Effectiveness, to provide actionable insights for performance marketing campaigns.

Collaborate closely with the Data Science team on advanced analytical projects and modelling.

Identify and apply the most appropriate analytical approach and methodology to answer key business questions.

Take ownership of your project deliverables, ensuring they are on time, of high quality, and analytically sound.

Create clear and impactful outputs using visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau) or compelling slide decks.

Communicate project findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to generate business value.
Essential skills and experience you’ll need
-
A relevant qualification in a numerate discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a similar field.

At least 2 years of previous experience in an analytics team, with hands-on experience in Marketing Analytics.

Experience working with attribution models

Experience working with and interpreting Marketing Mix Models (MMM)

Experience with incrementality measurement techniques such as Geo testing or Causal Impact.

Strong proficiency in SQL for manipulating large datasets.

Advanced analytics skills using Python.

Proficiency with web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics or GA4.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to structure problems and present findings clearly.
Desirable skills and experience you may have

Proven experience of creating tangible business value from analytics, specifically within a digital marketing context.

Experience interacting with and influencing senior marketing stakeholders.

A track record of using a wide range of analytics to directly influence marketing strategy and investment decisions.
