We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Infection Prevention & Control Nurse (IPCN) to join our team as a band 7, Senior IPCN.

If so this could be the ideal post and you could be the sucessful candidate to join the County Durham and Darlington NHS foundation Trust's Infection Prevention and Control Nursing Team in this position based at the University Hospital of North Durham.

Main duties of the job

As the Senior IPCN on the University Hospital of North Durham site, you will be responsible for the daily operational delivery of a complex Infection Prevention & Control programme to the site. You will hold a post graduate qualification in Infection Prevention & Control or be willing to work towards.

As an integrated Trust, we also deliver a broad range of clinical services in the community that spans over 800 square miles of County Durham. The Durham based Senior IPCN will co-ordinate IPC support to the northern community footprint.

You must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, be a quick thinker, problem solver and effective leader. You must be confident at delivering expert advice to all levels of seniority to continuously promote compliance with IPC practices, thereby reducing the risk of patient harm from healthcare associated infections.

As a Senior IPCN, you will be expected to offer IPC support to all of our clinical services whilst successfully plan / complete project work in order to deliver the IPC annual plan and Trust objectives to maintain patient safety.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
