About the Role
We are looking for a talented and driven Senior ICT Designer to join our Smart Buildings team and play a key role in delivering cutting-edge digital infrastructure solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, data centres, and large-scale developments. As a Senior ICT Designer, you will take the lead in designing ICT systems that support the evolving needs of modern buildings and smart environments. Working alongside multidisciplinary design teams, you will help shape intelligent, connected spaces from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead the design of ICT systems including structured cabling, networks, wireless, AV, security, and data centre environment
Develop detailed technical designs, specifications, drawings, and report
Act as the technical authority, reviewing designs and mentoring junior designers and engineer
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver seamless, coordinated solution
Ensure designs meet performance, security, resilience, and compliance requirement
Stay ahead of emerging technologies and embed innovation into every project
Produce detailed RIBA (2020 version) reports (1 through to 4 design plus 5 construction monitoring & witness testing) and specifications from concept through to construction tendering, commissioning, snagging including close out reports.
Asist the team director in managing and allocating junior design team member workloads.
Implement and manage internal HDR QA systems and procedures.
Be prepared to travel within the UK, Northern & Southern Ireland and Europe to attend client offices and project construction site
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in ICT systems design across various sectors such as - Commercial office space, finance, data centres, residential schemes and hospitality & leisure.
- In depth proven technical experience of Structured cabling copper and optical fibre solutions across various sectors
- Experience producing detailed RIBA reports (1 through to 4 design plus 5 construction monitoring & witness testing).
- Experience leading designs and providing technical guidance to others
- Confidence working directly with clients and stakeholders
- Experience working within large and small design teams - For example, architects, MEP design teams, quantity surveyors, structures, civils and main & sub-contractors.
- A passion for delivering high-quality, future-proof solutions
- Relevant qualifications in ICT, engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- An understanding but ideally experience of integrated passive and active ICT converged building networks supporting MEP teams such as - BMS, Metering, EMS, Lighting systems.
- Experience creating early network topology interface schemes using schematic's to technically drive concept designs for integrated - ICT, AV, Security and Smart building Network infrastructures.
