Legacy Strategies are looking for a Senior HSS Strategy Manager with considerable experience in Health & Safety, in Birmingham.
Full Time Permanent Hybrid Working
Salary: Up to £81,000 Depending on experience
As Senior HSS Strategy Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping and implementing their Health, Safety & Security (HSS) strategy. Leading a dedicated team, your focus will be on creating and executing robust safety strategies and operational plans, along with engagement programmes aimed at embedding a culture of safety. This role ensures a unified approach to health, safety, and security across the organisation, driving continuous improvement and ensuring alignment with their core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive Health and Safety strategies, providing clear direction for both the organisation and its partners.
- Lead initiatives to foster a positive safety culture, engaging internal teams and external partners to promote safe and responsible behaviours across all stages of project delivery.
- Translate strategic goals into practical, measurable plans that deliver results across the full spectrum of projects.
- Identify and promote key lessons learned across projects to support ongoing enhancements in Health, Safety, and Security performance.
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external partners to ensure the cohesive delivery of HSS objectives.
- Provide guidance and challenge to technical specialists and stakeholders to ensure strategic actions are ambitious and drive meaningful safety outcomes.
- Actively promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) across all initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and objectives.
Requirements
- Strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of inspiring teams and aligning them towards common goals.
- Proven ability to influence and engage with a variety of stakeholders, including external partners, senior leadership, and technical experts.
- Skilled in managing technical performance, identifying key areas for enhancement, and driving improvements.
- Expertise in risk management, with the ability to make balanced decisions that consider safety, costs, and timelines.
- Effective at fostering collaboration across teams and building integrated approaches to achieving strategic objectives.
- Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety practices, including occupational health, particularly in large-scale projects or infrastructure settings.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, review trends, and inform strategic planning and actions.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Health and Safety professional) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering strategic safety plans across complex, large-scale projects.
- Proven leadership in Health and Safety management within high-risk sectors (e.g., construction, energy, transportation).
- Experience in successfully working with clients and partners to address health, safety, wellbeing, and security concerns.
