The Senior HR Advisor will support the HR department in all operational aspects of the employee journey with Flint Bishop. This position will play an integral role in areas such as employee relations, systems & processes and learning & development.

This is an exciting role which will support the firm at an exciting time of growth as we grow our headcount and offices across the Midlands and Yorkshire.

We are seeking a CIPD Level 5 qualified HR professional with experience in employment legislation, employee relation, mentoring and training.

The Senior HR Advisor will provide a responsive and high-quality HR advisory service on a range of employment matters and be focused on continuous improvement.

You will need to be experienced in managing senior stakeholder relationships and developing key relationships across the organisation, to support engagement and integration of new colleagues into the Firm.

Reporting directly to the Head of HR & HR Manager.

The role is based at our Head office in Derby, but with regular onsite visits for all other locations, including Leeds, Sheffield, York, Swansea & Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high quality and senior HR support to senior managers and stakeholders across the firm.
  • In partnership with HR Managers, conduct face-to-face formal absence meetings. Monitoring any sickness trends and flagging with the Head of HR where required.
  • Preparing a detailed and reliable monthly HR updates for HODs and presentation of this as required to Senior Managers
  • Handle a personal caseload of complex employee relations issues, updating the Head of HR, HR Managers and Senior Leadership teams.
  • Presenting findings from exit interviews to the management teams, Head of HR and the wider board on a quarterly basis. Attending follow-up meetings with leavers where appropriate.
  • Working alongside the Compliance Manager to identify any compliance training requirements across the firm. Allocating further training courses to address knowledge gaps.
  • Working alongside the Head of HR & HR Managers to submit key information to the SRA on an annual basis. This includes diversity data and CPD records for qualified solicitors.
  • Working alongside the Head of HR & HR Managers to obtain Investors in People Gold or Platinum award. Assessments occur every 3 years - an annual programme should be implemented to ensure continuous improvement in line with the desired standard.
  • Review, collate and present results from staff engagement surveys to the Head of HR and CEO. Attending follow-up action meetings with individual HODs.
  • Spot-checking employee files regularly including starter and leaver checklists and ensuring HR department compliance.
  • Drive the annual PDP process. This includes designing PDP forms and processes within the HRIS, ensuring proper completion, and scheduling one-to-one meetings across the firm. Ensuring any agreed actions are followed up within each department.
  • Attending maternity and paternity meetings as required. Conducting risk assessments and ensuring keeping in touch checkpoints throughout absence.
  • Assisting with all other general HR duties as required by the Head of HR.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Be CIPD level 5 qualified.
  • Have at least 3 years experience in an HR advisor role
  • Be able to evidence project management in areas such as learning and development and employee relations.
  • Have previous experience in managing complex employee relations issues end to end.
  • Highly knowledgeable with UK employment law, and ensure to stay current with planned changes.
  • Be commercially focused, looking for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Be an adept problem solver.
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to handle crucial conversations at all levels within a business.
  • Ideally have HR experience within the professional services sector.
