Our Team

Our Senior HR Advisers have a crucial role to play, delivering straight up advice, case management support and coaching our people leaders to ensure our colleagues are supported through the early stages of our HR capability procedures, as well as responding to complex queries. This can be face to face, virtually or over the phone. There will be a need to connect with colleagues monthly in our Glasgow or Newcastle hub.

We've an exciting opportunity covering a maternity leave within our HR Advice and Early Case Support Team as a Senior HR Adviser. We'll count on you to manage your case load and provide timely and trusted advice to give our people leaders and colleagues the best service and to . the right outcome. What you'll be doing

  • Building people leader capability through the provision of procedural advice and case management support to effectively manage the early stages of our HR procedures, mainly our absence and performance procedures.
  • Working closely with our team of HR Consultants to seamlessly hand over complex cases.
  • Supporting our HR Adviser team and actioning escalated complex queries that come into the HR Advice mailbox.
  • Ensuring your work is completed in a timely and purposeful manner in line with service level agreements, legislation, best practice and Bank policy.
  • Helping with the delivery of people leader performance and absence workshops.
  • Using data and insight to proactively support the business to address identified hotspots.
  • Completing ad hoc project work including but not limited to reviewing and making suggestions in respect of hr policies, processes, guidance and digital tools.
  • Engaging with other HR Teams, our Legal (employment law) team and other specialist teams across the Bank when expert advice is required.

We need you to have

  • Demonstrable HR experience gained within a financial services/regulated/unionised environment, providing case management support for our HR Procedures, in particular absence and performance management.
  • A good understanding of HR Policy, ACAS guidelines and employment law legislation.
  • Ability to recognise and escalate when an issue is high risk/complex.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to see different perspectives, have the confidence to express yourself and to influence and coach people leaders.
  • Superb organisational skills and the ability to spin lots of plates as you manage your own diary and caseload.
  • Experience of identifying trends, process improvements and proposing suitable suggestions.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential

  • CIPD qualified to a level 3 or equivalent

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks - we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
