Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our friendly dynamic paediatric team as a Band 3 Health care support worker, working alongside the paediatric nurses within child health.

We are passionate about providing outstanding 24 hour paediatric care to all our patients.

This position is for full time or will consider part time hours.

We have 24 beds which are for general paediatrics from 0-18 years and a dedication Outpatients Department. We work closely with all specialities within the hospital therefore cover day theatre lists on the ward and much more.

Main duties of the job

You will assist with care of all patients including admission under the direction of the nurse in charge. Assisting medical teams as required

You will utilise your skills with play to help children through their hospital stay.

You will participate in training to allow extended roles, acquisition inducing, Venepuncture, NG tubes and feeds, ECG, Clinical observations

You will ensure all restocking and ordering of baby products are complete

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of secondary education
  • Numeracy and literacy level 1 or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Basic life support
  • Care certificate or working towards

Experience

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working with children/on a Children's Unit

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Basic knowledge of NHS legislation to include COSHH/Health and Safety/Infection Control
  • Understanding of Safeguarding issues
  • Understanding of a health or social care setting.
