Job summary

Osborne Court is a unique, specialist service that provides short breaks/ replacement care to children and adults with learning disabilities. The service supports those who require nursing care and are assessed as having complex health needs, or present with behaviours that may challenge.

Both the children and adult services are looking for dynamic and motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant`s to join their teams. The services aim to provide a welcoming environment where the children and service users have the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, try new activities and that they have an enjoyable stay.

On completion of your successful application, you will be invited to our Recruitment Event taking place at Osborne Court, Osborne Road, Malvern Link, WR14 1JE on Monday 19th June 2023 between 10:00 and 14:00 where you will undertake an interview with our friendly team and potentially be made an offer on the spot.

We are a supportive and motivated team who are passionate about the care we provide. You will be required to provide the highest quality care and ensure that the children and service users are at the heart of everything you do.

Main duties of the job

In the absence of a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for leading a shift. You will be required to administer medication and carry out specific clinical interventions. This is a hands-on role, which involves supporting the children and service users with personal care, carrying out moving and handling and supporting them to participate in a range of leisure activities. You will be required to undertake daily tasks such as making beds, washing bedding and clothing, preparing meals and assisting the children and service users at mealtimes.

You will need good verbal and written communication. The role involves regular communication with families, as well as other professionals such as social workers. It is essential that you have had experience of working with children and/ or adults with a learning disability. You will need to have basic IT skills in order to access various IT systems and assist with updating care files and complete assessments.

The post holder needs to be able to work flexible day and night shifts to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good Level of general education.
  • Level 2 Qualification (e.g. NVQ or Diploma) Will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment to post.
  • Will be expected to complete the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment.

Desirable

  • Other recognised care qualifications.
