Job Description

THE ROLE

Reporting through our Space & Property Director, this newly created role is pivotal to continue developing the safety strategy for our supply chain sites based in the UK, Germany, Poland and the US in line with the Health & Safety policy. The successful candidate would be the lead contact for safety escalations at our supply chain locations, operated by our third-party logistics providers.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Long term H&S strategies, policies and objectives that align with ASOS' overall goals
  • Partnering with our risk team to ensure safety is considered and controlled throughout our operation in line with our insurance programme

LEADERSHIP

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to H&S team and wider organisations. Act as a role model for maintaining high standards across ASOS
  • Senior SME for all H&S matters
  • Manage H&S budget

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Partner with senior management, ASOSers and external stakeholders to ensure H&S objectives are met and maintain open communication about H&S matters.
  • Provide guidance, support and practical expertise on all Health & Safety matters required to promote a positive and engaged risk culture across our supply chain sites, globally.
  • Manage queries from the Supply Chain team in relation to the day-to-day safety of logistics operations.
  • Support our Supply Chain Development team by leading the safety stream of construction projects where ASOS maintains this responsibility or auditing third party where this responsibility has been outsourced.

RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee and manage complex risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are implanted to mitigate risks
  • Work with our third-party logistics providers to ensure major safety incidents are investigated and managed in line with best practice expectations.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Lead project to certify all supply chain sites to ISO45001.
  • Ensure insurance standards relating to safety engineering are adhered to.
  • Represent ASOS as necessary in communication with regulating authorities, acting as the lead competent person for safety.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

  • Develop and oversee KPI's and metrics to monitor H&S performance and drive continuous improvement.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Lead and manage organisation changes related to H&S, ensuring effective communication, training and support for ASOSers.
  • Support our supply chain development team as necessary for project safety in warehouse locations.

AUDITING & REPORTING

  • Manage safety performance reporting for all supply chain sites and using the data to create and present regular overviews for ASOS Senior Leadership team.
  • Lead audit programme for supply chain sites.

Qualifications

About You

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of all applicable UK and EU H&S legislation (USA knowledge desirable but not essential).
  • Motivated self-starter and individual contributor with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Skilled presenter at all levels of organisation, including senior stakeholders.
  • Experience within logistics/warehousing/retail ecommerce operations.

Desirable

  • Experience with compliance of dangerous goods.
  • Experience implementing certified health & safety management systems.
  • Experience managing safety stream on CDM projects.
