Shape the Future of Clean Energy: Senior HSW Advisor Role at Sizewell C

Are you a dedicated Health, Safety, and Wellbeing professional seeking an exciting challenge? Join us at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) as we embark on the monumental Sizewell C project. This state-of-the-art, 3.2-gigawatt power station will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, playing a critical role in the UK's energy future for the next 60 years.

Location: Sizewell C Site and Associated Developments

Your Role:

As our Senior HSW Advisor, you will be at the heart of ensuring we meet our health, safety, and wellbeing objectives. You will provide expert support, ensuring compliance with statutory, client, and company requirements. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the HSW manager with professional advice related to health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Ensuring adherence to H&S legislation and project requirements.
  • Supporting the delivery teams in the production and review of project documentation.
  • Conducting HSW safety engagement tours and formal inspections.
  • Attending client meetings and working groups on behalf of CWA.
  • Maintaining professional competence through continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to enhance H&S performance.
  • Analysing data trends, producing reports, and making recommendations.
  • Investigating adverse HSW events and trends alongside the delivery team.
  • Producing and delivering HSW briefings and training sessions.
  • Championing behavioural safety and fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Promoting new technology and business systems across the project.
  • Planning and monitoring performance against SMART objectives.

What We're Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Strong knowledge of the UK H&S Regulatory Framework.
  • Proven experience managing health, safety, and wellbeing on complex construction and civil projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Competence in incident and accident investigation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A talent for influencing others and promoting a positive safety culture.
  • The ability to produce formal reports and documents.
  • An understanding of behavioural management principles.

Essential Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification (or working towards).
  • A valid driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certifications such as Incident Investigation, CertIOSH, and CSCS card.
  • NEBOSH Fire Risk Assessment or equivalent.
  • Site Environmental Awareness Training (SEATS).
  • First Aid at Work (3-day or above).
  • Fire marshal certification.
  • PTTLS or equivalent training qualification.
  • Experience with Triple Bar Nuclear New Build, Microsoft Visio, PowerApps, and PowerBI.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Expertise in sectors such as nuclear, tunneling, heavy plant operations, lifting operations, coastal/marine works, temporary works, and excavations.
