Job Description
Costain's framework with Heathrow is the Major Programme Partner (MPP) role with Principal Contractor and Principal Designer responsibility for delivery of all works within the construction and handover phases of the T2 Baggage Programme (T2BP).
The T2 Baggage Programme is a £700m+ complex baggage and infrastructure programme intended to extend and protect existing T1 baggage operation until the new T2A baggage system has been designed, constructed, tested and is operational. The program is split into seven tranches/projects.
This role will be to support the works manager to coordinate the safe delivery of all operational activities on site, ensuring Health and Safety, Quality and Environment needs are met along with programme and budget requirements.
You will take the lead with front line supervisors from HS2 and the supply chain to ensure our values are built into their culture and our objectives are achieved, this includes helping them to develop throughout the contract.

This project is mainly sub-contractors managing, there may be some future self-delivery but critical to the role is the management of works, liaising & building relationships with the client.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the coordination of all section of works are completed. To ensure communication between all parts of the operation team including suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, safety and environmental team and client's team.
- Build and develop the team to deliver all aspects of the project requirements; identify training requirements, review the performance of the workforce and ensure delivery of briefings.
- Provide, monitor and control labour plant and materials to meet the programme.
- Manage sub-contractors and direct workforce.
- Ensure high standard of quality on the works to meet the specification requirements 'first time' and minimise rework.
- Assist engineering team with working method and outputs for production of method statements and programme.
- Ensure accurate, legible and up-to-date allocation sheets are recorded and provided at shift close with delivery tickets and plant returns to the engineering and commercial teams.
- Ensure all records for example inspections, works permits and briefings are up to date and in place.
- Carry out regular safety and environmental inspections and implement recommended courses of action as identified from progress monitoring and management inspections.
- Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes / variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / RE / project team
- Line management of front-line supervisors
- Ad hoc duties as job requires.
- The management of the workforce on site to ensure that safe methods of work are used and the effect on the environment is minimized.
- To ensure all Costain Way procedures are followed.
Qualifications
Essential:
- NVQ Level 4 - Construction Site Supervision
- SMSTS
- Black card
- SEATS
- Basic computer competence
- First Aid 3 day
- Cranage experience
- Client interface skills / maturity
- Excellent Leadership Skills
- Flexible approach to working.
- People management and recent experience of managing multiple foreman, supervisors and operatives.
Desirable :
- Crane supervisor
- Appointed person
- NRSWA/supervisor
- Experience in Rail or Aviation
- Driving licence
