Amazon Softlines Private Brands seeks a skilled, passionate apparel Technical Designer to deliver best in class fit and quality across its direct development products. We are looking for a highly experienced candidate in either kids and baby apparel, or adult intimates and swim (bras and panties).
The Global Fit team aims to delight customers of all shapes and sizes around the world with products that fit perfectly. We safeguard product integrity throughout the full lifecycle, including commercialization, while driving continuous improvement within our mature selection. Central to this charter is our worldwide fit and expansion strategy, new product fit engineering and block maintenance, delivering fit CX excellence, vendor fit training and driving fit innovation. The ideal candidate is driven, meticulous, and capable of applying and conveying robust, pertinent technical expertise to diverse stakeholders worldwide. They must also be adept at analyzing size and fit data from various global regions to refine and innovate products, processes, and the overall customer experience. Previous experience in a similar role is crucial, as is a passion for working as a specialist.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you are responsible for the fit strategy within your relevant Softline's categories. You manage the entire fit commercialization process, from conducting market research and internal data analysis to developing detailed technical specifications that align with brand standards. Your expertise spans a wide range of fit engineering techniques, including pattern making, draping, garment construction, virtual 3D fit simulation, and block development. You collaborate closely with Design, Materials, and Product Development teams to ensure all developments meet technical requirements, align with economic constraints, uphold quality standards, and are completed within deadlines. Additionally, you leverage diverse data sources to inform and shape your fit strategy, while also playing a crucial role in developing processes and tools that enhance workflow efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
- Deliver clear specifications on Tech Packs to include fit, construction and quality, being cognizant or target prices
- Lead fit sessions ensuring fit, sizing, construction and quality consistency is achieved in line with standards
- Work with Design to ensure that relevant blocks and patterns are in place (2D and 3D)
- Develop or update existing Technical Literature and SOPs as required
- Leverage Technical knowledge to conduct wearer testing through development and post production
- Evaluate garments to determine compliance of specs, construction, quality and fit intent versus the agreed standard
- Track and manage workflow and workload for own product or team
- Travel to factories, working with technical teams to advance fit approval timelines and drive right first time development
- Conduct root cause analysis and customer data deep dives in line with strategy/defect escalations
- Lead technical conversations with Vendors, including quality and fit issue escalations
- Be comfortable reading, evaluating and manipulating data led fit reporting
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- 10+ years of demonstrated success at a similar role within national brands in the US, Australia, or EU
- Highly proficient at assessing fit through virtual 3D tools, live models and bodyforms
- Strong knowledge of global body morphology related to fit development and pattern creation
- Highly skilled at building Tech Packs including measurement specifications, construction standards, critical points of attention
