What You Will be doing as a Senior Game Designer
As a Senior Game Designer, you'll be taking ownership for the successful delivery of our very own IP! This is a unique opportunity to work in a varied role, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across projects of varying scope and complexity. You will need to lead by example, get hands on with solving problems and creating content, give clear feedback and pass your experience on to more junior members of the team.
Your Day-To-Day
- Delivering a range of high quality design work, including but not limited to feature design, systems design, and content design
- Performing research and understanding the current state of the games market
- Planning, scoping, breaking down and costing features or tasks
- Delivering innovative ideas for both new and existing IP
- Assessing ideas and providing clear actionable feedback to other team members and external developers
- Creating exciting and high-quality content in engine that helps the game achieve its goals
- Being an excellent communicator, working as part of a multidiscipline team, leading by example, and mentoring other design team members
- Prioritising and delegating throughout development to ensure the timely delivery of the game
- Upholding the overall quality of the game, primarily as it relates to the game design elements of the title
What You'll Need
- A strong ability to identify issues with a game or feature and react accordingly
- Excellent communication, with the ability to write clearly and present verbally
- The ability to communicate a vision, such as being able to deliver a feature pitch
- Develop gameplay mechanics through an iterative process
- Good interpersonal skills - the ability to work with people and accept feedback and criticism throughout development
- Good prioritisation and time management skills; being able to work to deadlines but remaining committed to delivering a high level of quality
- Strong practical experience in current game development practices and tools - including but not limited to Unity3D, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office
The ideal candidate has a proactive and positive attitude, cares deeply about delivering high quality games, is a great communicator and shows a continued willingness to learn and improve their skills.
The recruitment process for the Senior Game Designer is made up of 4 stages:
Stage One - Screening (30 minutes) - You'll initially meet with Talent Acquisition. This is a great opportunity to talk through your experience and ask any questions about the role
Stage Two - Interview (60 minutes) - An interview with a Designer and IP team Lead to explore your experience and an opportunity to meet the wider team.
Stage Three - At Home Design Test - A short practical Design test that is to be done within your own time.
Stage Four - Interview (60 minutes) - An interview with the IP Creative Manager (line manager) and another stakeholder where we'll run through the delivered design test and ask questions.
Our average process takes around 3 to 4 weeks but we will always work around your availability.
