Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Operations & Client Services (OCS) Pillar. As a crucial team member, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining software to scale our processes and facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for our merchants, whether they're just starting with us, or a longstanding customer activating additional Checkout.com products.

The ideal candidate is curious, spirited, lives and breathes Agile and the DevOps philosophy, and is passionate about working in a team that focuses on building products to achieve the company's strategic goals.

You'll get to work with teams from across Checkout.com's portfolio of products and services, as well as gain valuable insights from our commercial teams to deliver solutions that add value to them and our merchants.

We're part of an important area within the company - as we often form part of the initial interaction with merchants - and we're looking for individuals who have strong ownership, attention to detail and are comfortable converting big problems into smaller iterations to deliver value constantly.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers
    • While also being able to take onboard feedback from others
  • Partner with stakeholders both inside and outside of your core team to identify and refine requirements and specifications for key deliverables
  • Organise and run planning sessions with your team, ensuring everyone is on the same page
  • Take ownership and drive the delivery of strategic deliverables
  • Create and maintain pipelines to support automated builds, tests, and deployments
  • Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team
  • Contribute and adhere to our coding standards, best practices, and procedures

Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • At least 5-6 years of Experience building modern single-page web applications using JavaScript frameworks such as Next.js or React
  • Extensive experience in web application design and state management solutions
    • Strong knowledge of building scalable and reusable React components.
    • Ability to design and implement component-based architectures.
  • Expert understanding of core web programming technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS)
    • Our codebase is a monorepo built with Turborepo using TypeScript with a Node.js backend and a React front-end.
  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems and component libraries
  • Understanding of HTTP, TLS, and interacting with RESTful web services
  • Superb communication skills, ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Desirable:

  • Experience with writing automated tests from unit tests to e2e suites using tools like Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright
  • Understanding of common security vulnerabilities and performance issues in web applications, and knowing how to debug them
  • Strong customer focus, you build accessible applications with a great UX

Additional Information

Hybrid Working Model:

All of our offices globally are onsite 3 times per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). We've worked towards enabling teams to work collaboratively in the same space, while also being able to partner with colleagues globally.
