Job purpose

As our Senior Front End Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our cutting-edge software applications adhering to agile principles with Scrum as our chosen methodology. You will be passionate about technology, thrive in a collaborative and innovative environment, and have a strong proficiency in a wide range of technologies including React, Next JS, Chakra UI, Visual Studio Professional, Open API, Docker, and Azure App services.
Key responsibilities and duties

    • Lead the development of front-end features for our single-page application (SPA) and company website using Next.js, React, and Chakra UI.
    • Collaborate with backend developers to build seamless and scalable applications using .NET 8 and C#.
    • Design and implement responsive and accessible UIs that provide excellent user experiences.
    • Mentor junior developers in front-end development, sharing best practices and encouraging learning.
    • Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code in TypeScript,
    • Perform end-to-end testing with Playwright, Jest, and Cucumber to ensure product quality and reliability.
    • Lead code reviews and enforce front-end development standards.
    • Work with the front-end and back-end teams to ensure smooth integration of APIs and services.
    • Stay updated with emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices. Apply innovative solutions to improve existing systems and processes.
    • Ensure that 10% of sprint time is spent on innovation activities aligned with Situ's strategy.
    • Contribute to the product strategy by providing technical insights, and identifying commercial opportunities and risks to be mitigated.
    • Work closely with product managers, colleagues, and other engineers to understand requirements and contribute to the overall product roadmap.
    • Support the product team through story refinement sessions to ensure we meet our definition of ready.
    • Support discussions on future product enhancements, features and improvements aligning our technical capabilities with client, partner and industry demands.
    • Create technical documentation and diagrams to assist in the understanding, maintenance, and future development of applications.
    • Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve development processes.
    • Translate strategic plans into actionable plans guiding the team on technical execution.

General responsibilities and skills

    • 5+ years of experience in front end development.
    • Expertise in React and Next.js and solid experience with modern front-end frameworks and libraries.
    • Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS3, HTML5, and component libraries like Chakra UI.
    • Good knowledge of back-end technologies, particularly C# and .NET.
    • Experience integrating front-end and back-end services, with a deep understanding of APIs.
    • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, and Cucumber.
    • A proven ability to mentor and lead junior developers.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to discuss both front-end and back-end concepts with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience with SEO optimisation for web applications and lead-generation websites.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerisation (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Knowledge of design patterns and best practices for both front-end and back-end systems.
    • A good eye for design and user experience improvements.
    • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
    • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Adherence to coding standards, best practices, and documentation in software development.
    • Highly motivated with a positive can-do attitude.
    • Commercially astute.
