About The Role
The Role
We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our accounts team in Birmingham. Reporting directly into our Finance Director, the primary purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the delivery and development of our financial planning and analysis, and internal reporting function for the Group. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting, as well as identifying opportunities for further insightful analysis and added value, including cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities. This is a business facing role where relationship building with stakeholders across the group is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and review of Group budgeting and forecasting in a matrix environment and subsequent monthly reporting against those targets, including monthly fee earner KPIs
- Liaising with stakeholders across the business
- Have day-to-day responsibility for the team delivering financial analysis, budgeting and internal reporting across the business
- Working alongside the FDs and CFO, identify key areas with opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement
- Sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling
- Ad-hoc reporting for Board and banks, including quarterly covenants analysis
- Responsible for timely delivery of monthly suite of reports for Group boards, platform and unit heads
- Lead on ad-hoc financial projects where financial modelling/advanced Excel skills are required
- Support the Acquisitions team on financial due diligence and investment appraisals as and when required
- Perform monthly validations and make adjustments to as needed; investigate variances and follow up as appropriate
- Cash flow projections and variance to budget
- Consider ways to further enhance monthly / annual reporting and processes
- Work with other business support areas and external stakeholders to deliver regulatory and other reporting, e.g., Risk
- Support the development of team members
The Team
Our highly skilled and diverse finance team is dedicated to delivering exceptional accounting services to our exciting and dynamic Professional Services Group. We offer a comprehensive range of services that cater to both legal and non-legal businesses within the Group. Our finance team is meticulously organised into several specialised functions, including Group Accounting, Legal Cashiering, Billing, Credit Management, and Purchasing. This role will sit within our Group Accounting function and will report directly into our Finance Director.
The purpose of the financial planning and analysis team is the delivery of meaningful and insightful analysis for senior leaders across the business to support their strategic decision making. Additionally, the team is responsible for delivering internal reporting to fee earners and supporting client requests for data. This team is also integral to the compilation and preparation of the annual budget model for the Group. The team comprises of a mix of qualified and part qualified accountants.

The Person
Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent qualification with at least 5+ years of post-qualification experience
- Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with senior stakeholders and leaders across multiple functions from primarily non-finance backgrounds
- Strong financial analytical and Excel skills including financial modelling
- Intuitive individual capable of identifying and probing areas of value leakage
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem solving skills with a questioning mindset
- Diligent individual, strong attention to detail/data integrity
- Line manager experience
