British Heart Foundation (BHF) is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team and support the delivery of several new organisational projects and initiatives.
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll work closely with the Head of Financial Accounting and Control to provide technical advice and support for our innovation and development programmes.
You'll lead the year-end process, produce statutory accounts, and manage relationships with external auditors. Additionally, you'll oversee accounting and reporting on BHF investments, manage short-term cash and treasury activities, and support various finance projects across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the year-end process and production of statutory accounts.
- Managing relationships with external auditors and banking providers.
- Overseeing accounting for investments and short-term cash management.
- Collaborating with retail teams on key accounting areas such as fixed assets and provisions.
- Contributing to financial control functions, including supplier payments and month-end processes.
- Providing technical advice to non-finance staff and support BHF project activities.
Working arrangements
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.
At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. About you We are looking for a CCAB or equivalent qualified accountant. You'll have relevant experience in the not-for-profit sector, including knowledge of Charity SORP and charity tax. You'll be a proficient user of accounting systems and possess strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
