Purpose of the role:

Ceres operates an intellectual property licencing business model, which creates a complex and interesting accounting environment, including the treatment for revenue recognition and intangibles. Ceres is also FTSE listed, which creates a robust framework for governance, risk management, compliance, and reporting. This role will be a key part of the accounting team, with a focus on technical IFRS application and judgement.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyse and apply IFRS accounting standards and regulatory guidelines for all areas of the group
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos for significant issues
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS standards
  • Develop and update accounting policies to ensure compliance with IFRS and other regulatory requirements
  • Advise stakeholders on complex IFRS related matters and potential impact on financial reporting
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the half-year review and annual audit processes to address IFRS related issues
  • Provide insights and update accounting policies based on evolving industry standards and best practices
  • Support with all other aspects of financial accounting, external reporting, and board governance

    Knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • ACA Qualified preferred
  • In-depth technical accounting knowledge
  • Several years' experience in IFRS and applying these standards within financial reporting
  • First class presentation and report writing skills
  • Naturally inquisitive and confident in challenging established standards to identify and implement process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting issues and provide clear and actionable guidance
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and approachable individual who is prepared to help with other finance roles when required
