Job overview

An exciting new role to join the Planning & Investment team has opened up at ICHT. This role will provide support to strategic decision making for the finance team and would suit someone who is a critical thinker, organised, works calmly under pressure and pays attention to detail.

Main duties of the job

  • To support financial planning across the Trust. The post holder will support the development and implementation of the Trust's approach to the Financial Flows Regime and, in conjunction with the Head of Finance - Planning & Investments, support the development, implementation and maintenance of financial aspects of the Trust's financial strategy.
  • To support the financial aspects of the annual planning cycle and supporting the development of the financial and risk sections of the integrated business plan in preparation for submission to external bodies.
  • To support the planning co-ordination, development and direction of the Trust and Clinical Programme Groups (CPGs) finance plans.
  • To support the provision of a comprehensive financial planning service to the Trust ensuring the provision of timely, accurate and robust financial information on the Trust position.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Relevant work experience
  • Experience of working within the NHS or similar sized organisation (working within the NHS for at least 3 years is desirable)
  • Experience of translating complex data from various systems into a clear and comprehensive financial model
  • Experience of computerised accounting financial systems
  • Experience in accounting policies e.g. IFRS
  • Knowledge of a range of financial systems

  • Good organiser with realistic time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to concentrate for long periods of time, often analysing complex data
  • Able to work autonomously with the skills to make decisions independently
  • Able to work flexibly - independently or as a member of a team to achieve organisational goals
