This is not just any Finance team...this is the M&S Food Finance team

Fully woven into the DNA of M&S, our Finance team plays a fundamental role in setting the pace for our key business decisions, shaping our budgets, analysing our sales, managing costs and making sure our most vital statistics and data are absolutely accurate.

We are looking for a highly motivated and commercially minded Senior Finance Manager to join the Food Commercial Finance team as Business Partner to both our Supply Chain and Beers, Wines & Spirits Leadership teams. This role is critical to deliver the ambitious Food Supply Chain transformation programme and to drive revenue and profit targets in our Beers, Wines and Spirits business unit.

What you'll do

Your key accountabilities will include

Act as a senior leader in the Food Finance team, directly managing 2 analysts but demonstrating influence and impact across the whole Group

Supply Chain

• Key member of the Food Supply Chain Leadership Team, business partnering the Food Head of Supply Chain. Identifying and driving end to end value creation for the Food Group and providing critical support to connect Commercial inputs across the buying teams, retail and logistics

• Owning and leading the financial governance of large-scale business cases for all projects (e.g FOA/Stock Integrity) relating to the M&S Foods Supply Chain transformation programme. Ensuring project teams maintain financial rigour at every stage of project delivery, from initiation and business case creation, cost control throughout programme delivery, benefits realisation, and post implementation review

Beers, Wines and Spirits

• Business Partner the Beers, Wines and Spirits (BWS) Head of Trade and Leadership team to deliver growth in revenue and profit. Providing support with supplier negotiations ensuring that we receive the right price, value and quality

• Understand short and longer term performance trends against the market, budget and forecast through weekly trade reviews and monthly performance analysis reviews. Identify & manage Risks & Opportunities, highlighting to food leadership as and when they emerge to embed a 'no-surprises' culture in trading

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

• Qualified Accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CA

• Commercial Business Partnering in a Retail or FMCG environment is desirable

• Experience / understanding of sales to gross profit is essential

• Strong Commercial acumen and business partnering experience

• Ability to communicate with impact to senior management, business stakeholders and wider Finance teams
