Role overview
This is a business facing commercial role, where the individual is required to be working as part of a team responsible for supporting Audience Measurement, Operations, Media Development & Observer Service Lines plus Askia & Data Liberation. With combined revenues of £100m which employs 400+ permanent employees and 1000+ casual staff.
The main responsibility is helping to produce key financial data and supporting these business areas to manage their financial aspects of all projects.
The role is a challenging and varied one with broad exposure of working with a range of non-finance people and acting as the key point of contact for any financially related matters.
This role offers hybrid working with 3 days a week from our London and Harrow offices and the rest from home.
What will I be doing?
The role will involve the provision of insightful analysis to aid senior management in their decision making, involvement in costing and pricing large multi year contracts, negotiating with clients and suppliers, coordinating and responsible for preparing budgets & forecasts, ensuring accuracy of the P&L and managing a team.
Outputs/Accountability:
- Managing a team of 4 and overseeing their day-to-day activities
- Managing every aspect of the finances for the various service lines
- Working closely with the service line leaders in providing key information to help support decision making with regards to resourcing, pricing strategy, improving job profitability etc
- Challenging researchers and operations team with a view to bringing fresh insight to the financial issues being faced
- Building relationships across the teams to help them manage their financials
- Developing and providing regular financial training to research and operations staff
- Taking an active role in pricing and costing of new/repeat projects
- Producing and analysing management and KPI reports
- Working with senior management on the budgeting and forecasting process
- Working with the central finance team to prepare the monthly P&L's
- Working with the reporting team to produce monthly management information for UK Management Team and Paris (Head Office)
- Provide guidance on financial systems to researchers
- Constant focus on efficiency/stream-lining of processes
What do I need to bring with me?
- Qualified CIMA/ACCA
- Experience in a professional services organisation is desirable
- Strong line management skills and encouraging team working
- High level of initiative
- Strong relationship building skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing, especially with non-finance staff and professionals
- Attention to detail and a proactive manner in dealing with issues/queries.
- Ability to multitask to meet team and business requirements against tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Be able to flex and adapt to changing business requirements
- An organised and methodical mind
- Is intellectually curious, constructively challenges existing thinking,
- Be able to problem solve and offer solutions
- High degree of competence in the use of Excel
- Proficient PowerPoint skills
- Knowledge of Power Query/Automate useful
