As a Senior Finance Assistant (Operational Data), you'll have a keen eye for detail, and if you love giving insights that influence big decisions, then you'll feel right at home within the Operational Data academy finance team.

You'll support the Finance Manager (Operational Data) in the completion of key external returns, the month end procedures of TKAT HQ database(s) and in the production of Trust's own management accounts for Senior Leadership and Trustees.

The role as Senior Finance Assistant (Operational Data) is varied, working with both internal and external stakeholders. You'll need great interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.

We're a busy, fast paced team, so you'll need to hit the ground running! Ideally you'll be fully AAT qualified, or have the practical experience of having worked in a similar role for the last 2 years.

As an outward facing member of the finance team, you must possess fantastic communication skills, be proactive and resilient to the day to day challenges of education finance.

The Senior Finance Assistant (Operational Data) will lead, drive and continue the great progress already made within this area of the trust, the key responsibilities include:

* Prepare the trusts quarterly VAT return following review by the Finance Manager

(Operational Data) ahead of submission to HMRC.

* Carry out VAT sample based testing work carried out as part of the quarterly VAT return process, and ensure that output tax has been appropriately accounted for.

* Support the Finance Manager (Operational Data) in the production of the TKAT HQ

management accounts, carrying out variance analysis review work and ensuring any

material forecasted variances are sufficiently explained.

* Support the Finance Manager (Operational Data) with the preparation of the annual TKAT HQ three year budget plan.

* Coordinate and work with the Finance Assistant (Operational Data) to carry out

regular reviews of trust wide balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate

adjustments have been made and are appropriately evidenced, with a particular

focus on timely accrual, deferred income and prepayment adjustments.

The ideal Senior Finance Assistant (Operational Data) will be someone who is:

* AAT qualified or equivalent practical experience.

* Data handling including numerical data.

* Experience of completing VAT returns (desirable but not essential)

* Variance analysis and forecasting experience.

* Balance sheet reconciliations experience

* Strong Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel Skills (Google suite preferred)

* Experience of working in education (desirable but not essential).
