Job Description
Financial Analyst - Portfolio & Sustainability - Smiths Detection
The individual will support the financial management of the division's portfolio and sustainability activities, working closely with the Finance Director, Portfolio, Innovation, Digital and Sustainability. The role will include responsibility for sustainability reporting as well as a requirement to drive and initiate other sustainability initiatives. It will also include responsibility for reporting marketing results and financial modelling as part of the strategic planning cycle.
The key responsibilities are as follows -
Portfolio, Innovation and Digital
- Participate in Product Lifecycle Gate reviews: Challenge stakeholders on the financial performance of products whilst providing strategic options for portfolio improvements.
- Financial modelling: Build out 5 year financial plan models through the strategic planning cycle
- Resourcing: Providing support, on a regular basis, to assessments of whether the business has sufficiently aligned its marketing resources to achieve its strategic and commercial objectives.
- Management & Financial Information: Build and present financial dashboards showing actual and forecasted spend and revenue and preparation of monthly functional financial performance reports.
- Strategic Projects: Participate in financial requirements for ad hoc strategic projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strong relationships with the marketing management team and local finance teams to support close interaction between the functions.
- Portfolio scorecards: Collate and drive key metrics on portfolio performance to facilitate sales and improve margins
Sustainability
- Sustainability reporting: Gathering data from multiple sources and stakeholders to ensure the division meets its sustainability reporting requirements.
- Sustainability projects: Initiate and contribute to sustainability projects to ensure the Division reaches its net zero initiatives.
- Stakeholder management: Present the division's progress on sustainability objectives to the Group VP of Sustainability, highlighting risks and opportunities to reduce emissions.
- Target tracking: Help the division reach its sustainability targets and drive accountability when targets are at risk.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience -
- 4+ Years postgraduate experience in a similar role
- A passion for sustainability
- Excellent communication skills and influencing skills. The position needs to work across a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, using historical financial information, strategic plan or forecast data. Record of delivering business performance improvement is a plus.
- Comfortable working with different cultures.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience of dealing with large organisations and consolidations is an advantage.
- As sustainability qualification is an advantage, but not essential.
- A professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACMA) is an advantage but not essential.
