An exciting opportunity has arisen in Preston to appoint to a full time permanent Community Senior Family Support Worker post.

Senior Family Support Workers are essentially, experienced operational frontline delivery staff, holding a blend of direct service delivery responsibilities alongside some frontline supervision of lower graded delivery staff. There are three types of Senior Family Support Workers, each with a different focus with regards to supporting aspects of the service delivery offer.

Community Support

Post holders are operational frontline delivery staff linked to providing support across the 30 cross phase school clusters incorporated alongside the district area groups; Lancaster, Wyre/Fylde, Preston, Chorley/South Ribble, West Lancashire, Hyndburn/Ribble Valley, Rossendale, Burnley and Pendle. They will provide support and supervision for a small number of caseworkers (Family Support Workers (Neighbourhood Communities)). Community Support Senior Family Support Workers will provide dedicated practical support to school partners and other key partners. They will act as a key point of contact for delivery support from the service in relation to specific cases or identified family needs within schools in their cluster, adding value alongside other key services to a 'team around the school'. They will work with all Early Help partners in their cluster area to utilise existing resources in a more integrated way to secure better outcomes for families. Key objectives will be helping partners to coordinate their existing services to work together more effectively and find solutions to barriers they may face which prevent them from offering earlier interventions. They will work closely with partners to ensure that appropriate Early Help support can be effectively channelled for children, young people and families, using the school community as a focal point, finding mechanisms for partners who are coordinating support for a family, whereby they can quickly identify and locate any additional services and support a family may need. They will work with partners to build their knowledge and skills around thresholds and understanding of these in order to make appropriate and informed decisions about escalating cases only where necessary to do so.

In line with the level and complexity of the posts, all Senior Family Support Workers will be full time employees. Some occasional involvement in evening and/or weekend delivery sessions may be required to meet the needs of families.

All Community Senior Family Support Workers will be managed by the Community/Neighbourhood Team Manager for Preston.
