Are you ready to take the next step in your career and make a real difference for families across Leicester? Do you have the passion, commitment, and experience to work with whole families, supporting children and young people to remain safely at home or return from care?
We're excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to join us as a Senior Family Group Conference (FGC) Co-ordinator. This is your chance to help grow and shape an innovative, family-led service right here in Leicester.
An FGC is a structured, family-led meeting where families and their wider support networks come together to make safe and sustainable plans for a child. These conferences are facilitated by an independent and impartial co-ordinator, who supports the family throughout the process.
Leicester City Council offers Hybrid working across your home and multiple sites with a base at Halford House. While the job will primarily be in working hours, there would be an expectation to work around the diaries of our families' buys lives.
We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. If you wish to apply for this post on a secondment basis then please make your line manager aware before applying.
What you'll be doing:
Leading and Supporting the Team: Provide day-to-day leadership, oversight, and guidance to a team of Family Group Conference Co-ordinators and Business Support staff. Ensure all FGC work is delivered to a consistently high standard and achieves positive outcomes for children and families.
Co-ordinating Service Delivery: Oversee the effective delivery of Family Group Conferences, including caseload management, task allocation, and ongoing monitoring to ensure timely and impactful service delivery.
Professional Leadership and Practice Standards: Offer professional supervision and support to promote safe and effective working practices. Ensure the team is working within agreed frameworks, managing workloads efficiently and meeting required standards and timeframes.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track and evaluate performance against key indicators. Prepare and present performance reports and service data, working collaboratively with partner agencies to drive improvement and maintain a high-performing service.
Championing the Voice of the Child: Implement and promote services that actively respond to the lived experiences and voices of children and young people, ensuring their needs are at the heart of decision-making and service development.
Maintaining Professional Practice: Hold a small caseload of FGCs to maintain hands-on experience and model best practice, supporting a culture of integrity, quality, and continuous learning across the team.
What you'll need:
You'll have a strong background in holding and managing a diverse caseload, conducting interviews and assessments to identify individual needs and tailor support accordingly.
We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in:
Supporting vulnerable children and their families through challenging circumstances. Working directly with disabled children and those with additional needs. Helping families facing disadvantage or discrimination, offering them the support they need to thrive. Recognising and responding to safety concerns and risk factors to protect those at risk.
You'll also bring:
A deep, nuanced understanding of the complex challenges faced by children and young people on the edge of care-and what truly works to ensure safe, stable, and lasting positive outcomes.
Proven experience in supervising or supporting colleagues to deliver impactful, whole-family interventions.
A solid track record in preventative work with children and families experiencing escalating needs, with a confident ability to assess risks, safeguard effectively, and intervene where necessary.
Appointment to this post will be subject to an enhanced children's DBS.
