Senior Family Assistant

REDI (Relocation, Ethnic Diversity and Integration) Team, Communities and Partnerships

We are looking for empathetic, compassionate, and flexible individuals to join our team to help children and families who have come to settle or seek refuge in Norfolk. We want to enable and empower people to live independently and thrive whilst living in Norfolk by giving them the confidence to access the services and opportunities available to them and their children.

Building on the established Ukraine Support Team, we are passionate about children's voices and ensuring that they are aware of their rights and able to access guidance and help to Flourish whilst living in Norfolk.

As the Senior Family Assistant, you will provide quality assurance advice, practice guidance, co-working, mentoring, and modelling of best practice to internal staff and external partners.

You will support Team Managers in decision-making regarding case thresholds and explore the roles of Social Care or Universal Services in supporting families, such as through Early Help Assessments and Family Networking Approaches. Additionally, you will lead on collaborative initiatives with partner agencies to offer support, advice, and guidance for children and families, while challenging colleagues and partners to ensure early intervention and preventative services that promote community inclusion.

You will have a sound knowledge and experience of Prevention and Early Help and be experienced in initiating and writing early help assessments and plans.

You will promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people and have an excellent understanding of the Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership Continuum of Need Guidance.

You will apply safeguarding principles and best practice to ensure children and families from aboard, are kept safe and understand how to keep themselves safe regarding concerns of poverty, exploitation, human trafficking, and abuse.

Although these positions will have a focus on children from abroad you will be working as part of the wider Partnerships, Inclusion and Practice directorate Where we are able to offer training and development and community of colleagues to help us achieve best practice.

This position will require a full driving licence and access to a car. Your office base will be in Norwich and you will work across the North, East and Broadland locality.
