Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for the strategic and operational planning of the housekeeping and ward hostess services

Ensure that the service provision is timely, of the required quality and in accordance with the statutory regulations (NSHC 2021), Service Level Agreements, contractual specifications and Trust requirements, working closely with clinical teams and others to provide the best services to patients.

Ensure all outsourced contracts are managed appropriately; monitoring KPI's, legal compliance, customer satisfaction and value for money.

To monitor service performance through the development and use of Key Performance indicators (KPIs) and the Directorate assurance dashboard to demonstrate the delivery of agreed service standards.

Conduct annual surveys, risk assessments and audits to monitor service performance and take appropriate actions to address actual or potential service failures, risks and regulatory non- compliance.

Present performance reports with action plans to the GM Facilities on performance delivery

Actively promote quality in the team, by making clear standards, expectations, monitoring progress and taking action when standards fall short of expectations.

To work closely with the GM Facilities in developing strategies for the improvement of logistics services in all areas of responsibility.

Development of short, medium and long term business plans and action as appropriate.

To take responsibility for managing a broad range of complex changes in a range of service areas, helping to influence change at all levels of the organisation.

Produce complex reports about organisational development issues, recommending courses of action.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level, equivalent qualification, or appropriate specialist qualifications and experience.
  • Membership of professional body in Facilities Management or equivalent specialism.
  • Proven track record of continuous professional development to ensure up-to-date knowledge

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Fully conversant with statutory requirements, NHS guidance, Codes of Practice and the requirements of Regulatory Bodies.
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to National Standards of Cleanliness, the services such as COSHH, Hygiene Code, Infection Control, Environmental Protection
  • The ability to demonstrate a keen understanding of the issues relating to the Trust, the NHS and how these influence the Facilities as a service provider of choice.
  • Understanding of effective contract management, service KPIs and Value for Money.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of creating a safe and secure environment for NHS staff patients and assets

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience in a facilities management position, ideally within the NHS or public sector
  • Experience of successful project and change management.
  • Experience of managing a large budget and financial controls and savings.
  • Experience of organisational change and service development

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to make decisions by determining key points from complex data and multiple information strands
  • IT literate with well-developed skills for the use and application of information technology systems including, file management, safe and effective internet use.
  • Proven ability to achieve targets and objectives within a demanding and pressured environment against challenging deadlines
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills to facilitate working within and leading a large team
