Works Manager

THE ROLE

The primary purpose of the role is so that our site teams benefit from the presence of a Works Manager due to their experience and knowledge, whilst also offering the Contracts/ Operations Managers further support to drive projects to a successful completion.

You will have overall responsibility of ensuring the day-to-day smooth running, quality, and compliance of works on site. You will attend sites within your region to resolve issues, identify improvements and be the eyes and ears for the senior management team on site. You will support with improving productivity, morale, and progression of works. Working closely with the Regional Operations Managers and wider senior team to feedback improvement opportunities and any issues arising from the site-based teams. Together with the rest of the senior management team you can help roll out improvements and efficiencies to improve the operations team and the work we complete.

You will be primarily based on sites within the North dependant on our schemes.

A typical week might involve
• Travelling between sites, attending site meetings, helping to resolve construction and productivity issues, and generally communicating progress and improvement opportunities back to the Operations Managers for programming
• Assisting with the management of Site Safety and Quality, as well as the Programming and Commercial elements to a project
• Identifying potential CE opportunities and assisting the Contracts Managers with preparing this information for the Quantity Surveyors to recover
• Motivating, advising, training, and developing the workforce to encourage internal progression and support our future succession plan
• Organising meetings between the relevant parties to discuss issues and solutions which can be agreed and followed through to enhance a projects performance.
• Liaising with senior management in HSEQ, HR and Operations to discuss progression, challenges, and opportunities to improve
• Health and safety Tours, including deputising for Senior members of the Operational Management team, if they are absent

• Commercially aware and Operationally competent through experience
• Experienced in site-based works and can identify improvements in ways of working
• A strong leader who can build good relationships with people at all levels
• Well organised and can prioritise workload efficiently
• Confident to feedback to site-based staff and senior management
• Health & Safety conscious
